With an eventful January having come and gone, the next 11 months are shaping up to be exciting ones. 2020 will be a year to remember, and while much remains unforeseen, here’s what we know about the upcoming year so far:

2020 summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan

From flipping awesome gymnasts to an eleven-year-old British skateboarder, the 2020 summer Olympics will be a time to remember. Not only are the athletes amazing, but this year the Olympic committee will be introducing a hydrogen-powered torch, which will not emit any carbon dioxide while being burned. This torch is intended to help spread awareness of environmental issues in Japan.

The 2020 presidential elections

The U.S presidential elections are scheduled for Tuesday, November 3rd, 2020. This year’s elections will mark the 59th quadrennial presidential election. Will current president Donald Trump go on for another term?

The 2020 Mars mission

NASA is planning on launching a Mars rover on July 17th, 2020. It will touch down on Mars on February 18th, 2021. The rover will study the terrain, and determine if we will be able to live on Mars in the future. The NASA scientists also are planning to collect samples of Mars’ rocks and send them back to earth.
